Doing a review for walking within is difficult. I have spent 25 years doing my just walking outside in the fresh air, and I am certain many of you readers have been doing it fifty-fifty longer. Only Jessica Smith and Leslie Sansone make the thought of walking inside kind of fun. Plus, with indoor walking you're free of the heat and the bugs (hopefully anyhow). Run into which one we like best in this special walking workout DVD face-off!

Walking for Weight Loss Wellness and Energy

In Jessica Smith'southwardWalking for Weight Loss, Wellness & Energy there are iv parts: a Warm-Up (five minutes), a High Energy Walk (30 minutes), a Power Walk (30 minutes) and a Cool Downwardly (v minutes). The Warm-Upward is your standard walking in place, and the Power Walk and High Energy Walk segments are pretty similar but more than intense, as they both accept you walking in identify for most of the fourth dimension with added, and a little more complicated, leg and arm movements. Jessica has you exercise a lot of hip shaking (now that I can go into!) while maintaining a squat position (oh, the fire in my thighs).  One of the few moves that my body simply would not comply with were the complicated jumping jacks, where you use your arms in a climbing motion and double tap your feet.

The music changes about 4 times in each segment, so there is no repetitive tune to get sick of, which is nice. My favorite was the Latin song that comes up in the second one-half of the third segment where you get to move and groove more freely. During the Latin song, you lot'll do a lot of shimmy moves and add together a fiddling hips while you're walking (which is never a bad thing).

1 downside to this walking workout DVD though is that some of the human foot moves are complicated. I can dance like no other and brand upwardly dance moves on the spot, but information technology takes me awhile to catch on to fancy footwork in workout videos. I actually had to rewind so many times that I was approximately seven minutes behind schedule simply to become the moves downwardly! I upside to Jessica Smith's video though was that in that location were iii different people doing iii unlike levels of difficulty for each motility — totally awesome because you lot can pick what workout level is best for you.

Leslie Sansone's Merely Walk: Belly Blasting Walk

Leslie Sansone'sJust Walk: Belly Blasting Walk is different, as it includes the cool-downwards and warm up in the bodily workouts, which include the "ii Fast Mile" and two separate targeted sessions that y'all do on the floor. The floor sessions are pretty standard, but it was nice getting on the floor for a infinitesimal to take a chance to relax, or then I idea. In this portion, you spend your time holding sure positions, like on your stomach with your legs and arms in the air (full Superman), which was much harder for me than I was expecting. (Shocker!)

The music in this workout has a good rhythm that is piece of cake to up with, which is adept because the entire 2 Fast Mile segment is based on the corporeality of steps you accept, which has to be to the rhythm of the music. If you get off rhythm for any length of fourth dimension, most likely yous will non reach the two-mile marker. You starting time with four basic steps — a knee joint lift, kicks, sides-steps and squats — and build from at that place. About halfway through the first mile, the moves go a trivial more intense. For instance, instead of doing simple side-steps, you lot end up doing double side-steps that move very quickly to become your heart rate up. My favorite moves were the twists. There are a few unlike types of twists yous practise: jog upward two steps and then twist two and jog dorsum, besides every bit twisting to each side and then back. At one point, you fifty-fifty just twist in place for awhile. At first the twisting in place was killer on my calves, but I accept been doing this video five times a week for the past month and my calves are at present rock hard (awesome for my summertime shorts and dresses).

There are some definite pros to this walking DVD. In the beginning of the workout, Leslie takes the time to end and prove you lot each motility you will be doing ahead of time then that you don't have to stop during your cardio to figure out a move (I didn't want my heart charge per unit to go down once again just because I am a Impuissant Cathy!). 1 downside though is that there are not that many modifications shown. Leslie only has i walker, Brianna, show a modified move once. Instead of doing a leg swing, where you swing out your leg and the infinitesimal information technology comes dorsum yous swing out you other leg, Brianna shows a uncomplicated side-stride. Showing only one modification was a bummer, simply luckily all the moves are like shooting fish in a barrel plenty to practice that you don't really need modifications unless y'all have concrete limitations. If you lot do have physical limitations, than you lot should consult your physician before beginning this workout considering although the moves are simple and fun, you want to avoid doing any strenuous moves that might further hinder your workout abilities.

Fit Bottomed line: J ust Walk is more of a workout for people who desire a unproblematic, basic cardio workout (and can concur a beat). Walking for Weight Loss, Wellness & Energy seemed to be more targeted to a younger demographic — so if you are in the 20 to xxx historic period range (or but in darn good shape!) this would be a good video for you.

All in all, Just Walk came out on top for me. What about yous gals? Which DVD do you think y'all'd enjoy more? —Maria
